The government has announced that is will be taking action in a bid to make selling homes and trying to find a mortgage easier in the UK .
While releasing the detailed content of the home information packs, ministers set out a new strategy aimed at stopping the £350 million wasted by buyers and sellers every year. The aim of the packs is to provide greater transparency for sellers and buyers who are looking to find a mortgage . Officials hope that the packs will make it easier for buyers to ensure they are fully aware of all aspects of the property before taking out a mortgage, including information about the condition and energy efficiency of the property. Yvette Cooper, housing minister, said "For too many people, buying or selling their home is still a real nightmare, with long delays and duplication. People should be entitled to proper information at the beginning of the process." The government will bring the home information packs in as a compulsion from June 1st 2007, although recent research conducted by polling company ICM revealed that 64 per cent of UK residents are not aware of them.
